If you arrive at
Malpensa airport

The bus service directly connecting Pavia to Malpensa airport has
been recently suspended. Thus the best way to reach the conference site
consists on taking the shuttle service connecting
Malpensa to Milan Central Station (click here
for a timetable and a price list) and then you can travel by train to Pavia.

If you arrive at Linate airport(44km from Pavia).

There are two choices; the first one consists on taking the bus connecting directly Linate
airport to Pavia central station (50 minutes approximately) and it costs 9 euro one way.

taking the bus connecting Linate Milan Central Station
(4 stops). You can buy tickets either on the bus (in Linate only) or inside Milan
central station.

If you arrive at Milan/Bergamo - Orio al Serio airport(101km from Pavia).

In order to reach Pavia from Orio Al Serio,
you can either rent a car or take a bus to Milan Central Station (here
is the timetable) and then travel to Pavia by train. The cost for the bus is 6.30 euro.

By Train.

It is possible to easily reach
Pavia by train from Milan Central Station or from Genoa Porta Principe Railway
Station if you arrive from the south of France. There are several connections and it is possible to find a
timetable
at the official
web site of the "Ferrovie dello Stato". Please keep in
mind that there are different type of trains connecting Pavia to other cities. If you plan to travel with a direct (D),
regional (R) or interregional (IR) train, you need a normal ticket. Conversely, if
you plan to travel on a fast train (IC, Cis, ES) you have to buy a compulsory
supplement to the normal ticket. The cost of a
second class normal ticket from Milan is 2,80 euro (30-40 minutes depending on
the train) whereas from Genoa is 5,73 euro ( 78 minutes ). The cost of a second class IC ticket
from Milan is 4.60 euro (25 minutes) whereas from Genoa is 9.40 euro (67
minutes). If you plan to reach Italy by train
from a foreign country, there are several trains connecting Milan to all major

By Car.

Pavia is linked to other big
towns with 2 motorways, the first one connecting Milan with Genoa (A7
exit:Pavia) and the second connecting Turin with
Piacenza-Brescia (A21 exit: Stradella). For a detail route map,

In Pavia.

The conference will be held in "Palazzo del 400" an historical building in the town
center. If you arrive in Pavia at the central station (labelled with 2 in the map), the conference center is within
walking distance (15 minutes) or you can reach it by bus (tickets are sold at newspapers kiosks for 90 eurocent).
Take the bus number 3 direction Montebolone and get down at the third bus stop near "Piazza della Vittoria"
(labelled with 11 in the map). Then follow
the map to the conference center
labelled with 7. If you plan to arrive by car please take into
account that the city center is closed to road traffic for non-resident visitors and parking nearby
the center is rather expensive. For more details you can refer to a
